Neill Prewitt is a multimedia artist based in Atlanta, GA.
Raised by entrepreneurs in the suburban 1980s, he first found authentic community in the post-grunge independent music scene in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, NC. A product of the North Carolina public school system, he earned a BA in English at North Carolina State University and an MFA at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012, during which his practice was characterized by collaborative projects ranging from public access TV to community-sourced installation. From 2012-2016 he wrote and directed a pair of rock operas.
In 2018 he released a solo EP under the name Gift Appeal. He is currently developing two projects: Why White People, a series of performances in sites affected by systemic racism and gentrification, and Heart Beats, a series of musical performances inspired by pre-cinema shadowbox theater.
Prewitt is a Lecturer in Foundations at the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University.
